Yesterday, a friend sent me an email containing the following messages:

A woman at a bar on a Saturday night was taken by 5 men, who, according to hospital and police reports, gang raped her before dumping her. Unable to remember the events of the evening, tests later confirmed the repeat rapes, along with traces of Rohypnol in
her blood and Progesterex, essentially a small sterilization pill.The drug is now being used by rapists at parties to rape AND sterilize their victims. Progesterex is available
to vets to sterilize large animals. Progesterex is being used together with Rohypnol, the date rape drug.

As with Rohypnol, all they have to do is drop it into the girl’s drink. The girl can’t remember a thing the next morning, of all that had taken place the night before. Progesterex, which dissolves in drinks just as easily, is such that the victim doesn’t get pregnant; she won’t conceive from the rape and the rapist needn’t worry about having a paternity test identifying him months later.
The drug’s effects ARE NOT TEMPORARY - They are P*E*R*M*A*N*E*N*T!!!
Progesterex was designed to sterilize horses.. Any female who takes it will NEVER BE ABLE TO CONCEIVE… The weasels can get this drug from anyone who is in the vet school or any university. It’s that easy, and Progesterex is about to break out big on
campuses everywhere. Believe it or not, there are even sites on the Internet telling people how to use it.
Please forward this to everyone you know, especially girls.. Be careful when you’re out and don’t leave your drink unattended.

This type of email is one of the most frequent email I have been receiving, and I am tired and sick of people who do not pay attention and do some quick research on the topic. By just typing the so called rape drug “progesterex” on any search engine will already give you information that this is a hoax, Wikipedia decribed this drug as:

Progesterex is a fictitious date rape drug. It is part of a hoax that began to circulate in 1999 via e-mail on the internet. No actual drug by this name or even with these properties exists, and no such incident has ever been documented or confirmed.

So this is a hoax, no Progesterex drug exists and there are no incident in which the use of this drug has been reported. End of story. On the other hand be aware that Rohypnol is a legitimate drug used in the short-term treatment of sleep disorders, but has been abused for more sinister purposes. It has been implicated in several date rape cases in the US, although there is no confirmed case of it being used in sexual assualt cases in the UK. It rose to prominence as the date rape drug because it was colourless, odourless and tasteless - ideal for spiking drinks undetected - and causes sedation or euphoria in approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Several cases report the drug being given to women without their consent in order to remove their inhibitions. Street names for Rohypnol include rophies, ropies, ruffies, roofies, roche, R-2, mexican valium, rib, and rope.

Other drugs used for sexual assaults is gamma-hydroxybutryate (GHB) is also reported to have been used to incapacitate victims in order to sexually abuse them. GHB is also known as liquid X or g-juice, and was once sold in health food stores to bodybuilders. The effects of GHB are similar to those of Rohypnol - dizziness, confusion and memory loss. It is colourless and odourless. It is most commonly found in liquid form.

However, a US study in 1997 showed that alcohol remains the substance most frequently associated with substance-assisted sexual assault.
